Charity movie night “History of Ukrainians through Documentary Eyes” held at the Ukrainian House in Warsaw

On June 29, the “Ukrainian House” Foundation, together with the “United For You” cultural project, the charitable social project about real Ukrainians “Those Who Saw the War” and the Norwegian Refugee Council, held a cultural charity film night, The History of Ukrainians Through Documentary Eyes.
The event took place at the Ukrainian House in Warsaw.

All those present were treated to an interesting talk about films about the Russian-Ukrainian war. These films demonstrate the true nature of who Ukraine has been fighting for almost 400 years.
Honoring the memory of those who gave their lives for the freedom of our country is important.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, filmmakers have continued to chronicle our days. Directors, screenwriters, and actors wanted to leave a legacy to future generations of information that is important to remember forever. That is why these films are a way to rethink the events of our time through an artistic lens. Because cinema is one of the most effective forms of public dialog. And who better than Ukrainians to start this conversation and tell the world the true story of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

The audience was shown trailers of films released in 2022-2023: “20 Days in Mariupol”, “Iron Butterflies”, “Mariupol 2”, “House of Splinters”, “Mariupol. The Lost Hope”.
In addition, feature films about the war released in 2022-2023 were presented: Peaceful-21 by Akhtem Seitablayev, Sniper. The White Raven by Marian Bushan, and Blood Oil by Johnny Kyivsky.
Despite the fact that these films are labeled as fiction, they are based on real events of the war that Russians started on the territory of Ukraine.

The topic sparked an active discussion among the audience, because each of them is a part of this tragedy, which we must remember in order to prevent it from happening again.
In fact, this is a story about the real fates of Ukrainians who witnessed Russian aggression and the attack on Ukraine. Each story echoes with pain, emotions, hopes and expectations. These are the heroic stories of volunteers, our defenders, mothers, fathers, daughters and sons, students, scientists, and artists. No story should be forgotten!
